Here are a list of the top 7 items every woman should have on Bald Head Island:
1. The Right Swim Suits
A bathing suit for sunning AND a bathing suit for swimming. That cute suit you bought because it looks so great may be taken off with the first wave! Some warnings.... anything with no straps, bra padding that is not secure, lots of decorative "bling" does not do good in the surf.
2. Skorts
That's right. The shorts/skirt combo is essential. Skorts can transition from the beach to the pool-side deli with ease. In fact, if every skirt you bring has built in shorts, your life is going to be so much easier! Think riding in the golf cart, island wind, and chair lounging. You won't have to worry about an accidental "show."
3. Hoodie and Caridigan:
No matter what the time of year, Bald Head Island can get chilly at night. Choose a couple of solid colored pieces that can go with anything.
4. Sports Flip Flops:
This is huge! I know we love our strappy little sandals or bejeweled flip-flops, but you need something that stands up to sand and water and stays on your feet! A brown pair goes with anything. Pair them with a straw beach tote with brown leather handles and you'll looked pulled together.
5. White Jeans
A good pair of white jean shorts, white jean capris and white jean long pants. Besides the fact that they can get soiled, there is nothing better for dressing at the beach. You can dress them up or down, add accessories or not.
6. Button or Zip Cover-Up
The best cover-up has buttons/snaps/zippers, and sleeves. Nothing is worse than trying to pull a cover-up over your head on the beach. You don't want to have to wrestle with it. We recommend one with sleeves that can be folded up and fastened into place. Then you can have more or less protection from the sun. White is ALWAYS classic.
7. Basic T-shirts
When it comes right down to it, you may think you will wear all those cute tops, but you'll be surprised how many times you'll need a basic T to just throw on. You're not going to get "dressed up" for an early morning walk on the beach, or a golf cart drive to run into the store for a breakfast essential you forgot. We recommend you find the best style and fit for you and buy one in a number of colors.... and don't forget white!
